Change Begins with a Look Up

In Luke 9:16–17, Jesus is handed a problem: thousands of hungry people and barely enough food to feed a few. But instead of looking at the crowd in frustration or the disciples in disappointment, He looks up. That upward gaze is everything.

“He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them…”

Jesus models a divine rhythm:

Look up before you look around.

Bless before you break.

Worship before you worry.

This is not just a miracle story—it’s a blueprint for how to live when life feels insufficient.

In the face of lack, Jesus didn’t panic. He didn’t complain. He didn’t blame the crowd for being unprepared or worry about how the miracle would happen. He looked up. He worshipped. He blessed. And in that posture of surrender and gratitude, heaven responded with abundance.

Before You Worry, Worship

Worry is the soul’s attempt to control what it cannot. It’s rooted in fear, scarcity, and the illusion that we are alone in our struggle. But worship is the soul’s surrender to the One who is more than enough.

When Jesus worshipped, He didn’t wait for the food to multiply first. He worshipped in the lack. That’s the power of faith: praising before provision.

Worship reframes reality. It doesn’t ignore the problem—it invites God into it. It isn’t denial—it’s defiance. It’s declaring that God is bigger than the problem, more faithful than the fear, and more generous than the gap.

So before you spiral into anxiety today, pause. Lift your eyes. Speak God’s name. Sing a song. Whisper a prayer. Let worship be your first response, not your last resort.   This is the rhythm of heaven:

Worship before worry — because worry shrinks your vision, but worship expands your faith. Bless before blame — because blame divides, but blessing multiplies.

Before You Blame, Bless

Blame is easy. It’s the default when things go wrong. We blame others, ourselves, our past, even God. But Jesus didn’t blame the crowd for being unprepared. He didn’t blame the disciples for their doubt. He blessed what was in front of Him.

Blessing is a spiritual act of multiplication. It’s saying, “This may not be enough, but I trust God to make it more than enough.”

Bless your spouse even when they frustrate you. Bless your job even when it feels draining. Bless your body even when it’s tired. Bless your day even when it starts with chaos.

Because blessing opens the door to abundance. Blame slams it shut.

A New Mindset for Today

Let this be your mantra:

“I will not let worry steal my worship.

I will not let blame block my blessing.

I will lift my eyes. I will bless what I have.

And I will trust God to do the rest.”

  3. God instructs us to be his army and now it's time for the army of God to rise up. I always remember when I am weak then I am strong because God's spirit lives inside of me I am grateful to God who is Almighty all powerful above everything Jesus Christ his son who died for me The Wretched Center and the Holy Spirit that is my guide how can we not love God for all he has done for us and how can we not do something to show God now the strength of the church. It is God's command for his people to rise up not shrink back because I believe when we do that God is not happy with us and rightfully so. I see the persecution now that is happening in the United States of America and we need to push back this Darkness into the gates of hell where it belongs. I have so much more to say but I choose to keep my eyes above and not on this world anymore I choose to follow Jesus no matter what God bless everybody.

  4. Thank you Pastor Goodwin for allowing me to speak on this podium I have so much to share and I certainly don't want to take it with me when God calls me home I want to hear him say Well done good and faithful servant. I always believe sharing my life stories is someone's Lifeline this is why I do public speaking now to share the love of Christ in the hope in him and tell people about my life stories my trials and tribulations and how God has walked through the valley with me everyday and almost 67 years. Is it easy to walk God's way absolutely not it's not for the the weak but it is so worth it the suffering we can look at it if it's from the evil or is it from God pruning us and getting our attention on what we have not given up yet something to ponder God bless everyone.
