Anything too hard for me?
“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?” – Jeremiah 32:27
This scripture above is one of audacious declarations of God in the Bible
and in many translations the later part of it comes as a question to Jeremiah “Is
anything too hard for me?” I particularly like the
Contemporary English Version of the Bible rendition which comes as an answer instead of a question - I am the LORD God. I rule the world, and I can do
anything!
In our own lives, we often face situations that feel impossible—broken
relationships, financial struggles, health crises, or deep emotional wounds. We
wrestle with questions, plead for answers, and sometimes wonder if God sees us
at all. But Jeremiah 32:27 is God's gentle yet firm reassurance: I am the
Lord. I am not limited by what limits you.
However you look at it, this verse invites us to shift our gaze from the size of our problems to the
greatness of our God. It’s not a denial of hardship—it’s a declaration of hope.
God doesn’t promise that life will be easy, but He does promise that nothing is
beyond His reach.
God asked Jeremiah the question “Is anything too hard for me?”
(Jeremiah 32:27) during a time of intense crisis and uncertainty — both
personally for Jeremiah and nationally for Judah. Jerusalem was under
siege by the Babylonian army. The city was facing imminent
destruction, and the people were terrified.
The question came to Jeremiah when he was imprisoned by King Zedekiah
for prophesying that Jerusalem would fall and that the king would be taken
captive to Babylon. Jeremiah struggled to
understand how God’s promise of restoration could be true while destruction
loomed.
The question wasn’t just a rhetorical one —
it was a divine reassurance. God was saying: Even in the darkest hour, I am
still in control. It was meant to:
- Reaffirm God’s sovereignty
over all nations and events
- Encourage faith in His
promises, even when they seem impossible
- Remind Jeremiah (and us) that hope
and restoration are always possible with God
God’s power isn’t limited by time, space, or circumstance. What seems
impossible to us — healing, provision, forgiveness, restoration — is well
within His reach. When we grasp that nothing
is too hard for God (Jeremiah 32:27), we stop asking, “Can I get through
this?” and start declaring, “God is with me, and He is able.” This shift:
- Replaces panic with peace
- Turns despair into hope
- Moves us from fear to faith
God’s presence is like a steady hand in the storm. Knowing He is near — not
just watching but actively working — calms our anxious hearts. As Psalm 46:1
says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
That truth anchors us when everything else feels unstable.
We don’t endure hardship by sheer willpower — we endure because we know
we’re not alone. God’s power strengthens us when we’re weak (2 Corinthians
12:9), and His presence reminds us that we’re never abandoned. This
understanding gives us:
- Courage to keep going
- Strength to stand firm
- Grace to grow through the pain
God’s power is not just great — it’s infinite. It knows no boundaries, no
constraints, and no rival. It isn’t distant or abstract. It’s personal. It’s
the power that lifts us when we fall, strengthens us when we’re weak, and
carries us through when we can’t see the way forward.
He is Emmanuel — “God with us.” That means:
- He’s with us in the valley: When life feels dark and
uncertain, He doesn’t abandon us. He walks beside us, even when we can’t
feel Him.
- He’s with us on the mountaintop: In moments of joy and triumph,
He celebrates with us.
- He’s with us in the mundane: In the quiet routines, the
daily grind, the overlooked moments — He’s there.
God’s presence is our anchor. It doesn’t flicker when we doubt, and it
doesn’t fade when we struggle. It’s the steady heartbeat behind every promise,
the whisper in the storm, the light in the night.
