Don’t Believe the Lie
“ Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32
Every day, we are confronted with lies—lies about who
we are, what we’re worth, and what our future holds. These lies often come
subtly, whispered into our minds through doubt, fear, or temptation. But
Scripture reminds us that the enemy of our souls is “the father of lies” (John
8:44). His strategy has always been deception, from the Garden of Eden to
today.
In Genesis 3:1–5, the serpent deceived Eve by twisting
God’s words: “Did God really say…?” The lie was not just about fruit—it
was about doubting God’s goodness and truth. Satan doesn’t just tell lies —
lying is his very nature. Every deception, distortion, or falsehood traces back
to him.
Lies are not harmless; they lead to destruction. Lies corrode trust, break bonds, and leave
wounds that are hard to heal. God takes
lies seriously because they oppose His very nature. He is truth (John 14:6). Lies may promise comfort, escape, or
advantage, but they always lead to destruction.
To reject lies is to choose life. Lies enslave, but
truth sets free (John 8:32). When we cling to God’s Word, we not only resist
destruction but walk in the light of His eternal truth. Lies may seem convenient, but they collapse
quickly. Truth stands firm and brings lasting peace.
Lies may offer a shortcut or temporary relief, but
they are fragile. They unravel under the weight of reality, leaving destruction
behind. Isaiah 26:3 promises: “You
will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust
in you.” When tempted to believe a
convenient lie — whether about ourselves, others, or God — remember its
fragility.
Lies are like sandcastles washed away by the tide, but
truth is a rock that stands firm. When we build our lives on God’s Word, we
find not only stability but peace that lasts forever. Truth is not just a principle — it is a
Person. When we cling to Christ, we are rooted in eternal truth that cannot be
shaken.
Lies shift like sand, but Christ is the solid rock.
Matthew 7:24–25 reminds us that those who build their lives on His words stand
firm even when storms come. To cling to Christ is to anchor ourselves in a
truth that cannot be shaken by culture, circumstance, or fear. When doubts or
lies creep in, remember: truth is not distant — it is present in Christ.
To walk in truth is to walk with Him daily, trusting
His Word and promises. Truth is alive, personal, and eternal in Jesus Christ.
When we cling to Him, we are not just holding onto an idea — we are holding
onto the very One who holds us.
The devil’s lies are designed to erode faith, create
fear, and keep us bound. But every lie collapses when confronted with God’s
Word. That’s why Jesus Himself countered Satan’s temptations in the wilderness
by saying, “It is written…” (Matthew 4:4). When we root ourselves in Scripture, we
silence the lies and live in the freedom of truth. As John 8:32 reminds us: “Then
you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

“You are not

“You are

“You are fearfully
and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). |

“God has abandoned

“I will never

“You will never

“He who began a

“You have no

“For I know the

“You are

“In all these

When we root ourselves in Scripture, we silence the
lies and live in the freedom of truth. As John 8:32 reminds us: “Then you
will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
God’s Word illuminates truth, guiding us away from
deception. Jesus didn’t just promise
knowledge of truth — He promised freedom through it. Lies enslave us with fear, guilt, and shame. Truth liberates us, reminding us of our
identity in Christ and the victory we already have.

So very, very true!! Thank you Pastor
ReplyDeleteBoy does this hit home with me.
ReplyDeletesatan has lied to me for years. Now it has nothing to say because I shut it up.
I know who I am and whose I AM!
End of story.
God made me aware of how the d(evil) infiltrates. He comes straight into your ear up to your mind. That is his playground.
But God comes straight down to the heart. The d(evil) is a defeated foe.
It's just a bunch of babble words that mean nothing when it comes to the evil ones.
This is true freedom in christ.
Unfortunately, the d(evil) used many people to speak death into my life.
Now I pick and choose very carefully who speaks to me and into my life.
