Cultivating Courage

Courage isn’t the absence of fear,

It’s the step you take when shadows near.

It’s trembling hands that still hold fast,

A fragile heart that learns to last.

It’s hearing doubt, yet choosing to try,

It’s lifting your gaze when tears still dry.

Not silence of fear, but strength in its sound,

A quiet resolve when trials surround.

Courage is walking though knees may shake,

It’s standing tall though the earth may quake.

It’s not that fear has gone away,

But that you rise and face the day.

Courage is not loud, it softly speaks,

In broken hearts, in humble peaks.

It bends, it breaks, yet still holds fast,

A quiet flame that learns to last.

Courage is watered by tears we shed,

By prayers we whisper, by truths we’ve said.

It blossoms slowly, day by day,

A quiet flame that lights the way.

So let the storms howl, let darkness appear,

Courage isn’t the absence of fear.

It’s faith that whispers, steady and clear:

“Press on, for hope is always near.”
