Teach Me to Number My Days

 Inspired by Psalm 90:12

Teach me to number my days, O Lord,

To weigh each dawn against the night,

To see in hours a fleeting flame,

Not wasted breath, nor hollow name.

 

Teach me to count the fragile years,

Through laughter’s song and sorrow’s tears,

To hold the moments, small yet vast,

As treasures more than shadows past.

 

Teach me to measure time with care,

In kindness sown, in love I share,

To mark my steps with purpose true,

And walk the path that leads to You.

 

Teach me to number days aright,

That wisdom blooms, a guiding sight,

For life is brief, a fragile thread—

Teach me to live before I’m dead.

The Person of the Holy Spirit

  “ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed ?” – Acts 19:2 The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force or mystical energy, but a divine Person. Scripture shows that He thinks, speaks, teaches, and can be grieved (Ephesians 4:30). These are not the traits of an abstract power but of a living Person who desires fellowship with us. Paul’s question in Acts 19:2 reveals a vital truth: Christianity without the Spirit risks becoming mere ritual or doctrine. The Spirit is not optional; He is the living presence of God who makes faith real and transformative. Paul was not asking if the disciples had felt a vague energy—he was asking if they had received the divine Person who guides, comforts, and teaches. As she kept on praying to the Lord, Eli observed her mouth. Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk… ‘Not so, my lord,’ Hannah replied, ‘I am a woman who is deeply troubled… I was pouring out my soul to the Lord.”   — 1 Samuel 1:12–15 There are seasons when language collapses long before hope does. Times when the heart is too swollen with sorrow to form sentences, and all that rises to the surface is a trembling breath, a groan, or a tear. These are liquid prayers —the kind that bypass vocabulary and flow straight from the soul to the God who understands what the lips cannot speak.
