Dealing with Opposition

Image
“ So the wall was completed… When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.” — Nehemiah 6:15–16   Opposition is a reality of life. Whenever we set out to do something meaningful, resistance will rise to meet us. Sometimes it comes from outside—critics who mock our vision, systems that make progress difficult, or circumstances that test our endurance. At other times, it comes from within—fear, hesitation, or the quiet whisper of self-doubt. Nehemiah’s story is one of the clearest biblical illustrations of how opposition works and how we can stand firm against it. From the very beginning of his mission to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls, Nehemiah faced ridicule. Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem laughed at his vision and tried to discredit his leadership. As the work advanced, their resistance grew stronger. They plotted attacks, spread rumors, and attempte...

Pain as Purpose

Image
Pain is the fire that tempers the steel,   A silent teacher, relentless, real.   It carves the soul with jagged hands,   Yet leaves behind what strength demands.   Each wound a map, each scar a sign,   Of battles fought in the dark divine.   The ache that bends, the grief that breaks,   Are seeds of growth the spirit takes.   Purpose is born where suffering stays,   In shadows deep, it lights new ways.   For pain is not the end we fear,   But the forge that makes the vision clear.   So walk through trials, let anguish speak,   Its voice is wisdom, its touch unique.   In every tear, a truth is spun—   Pain is the purpose, the work begun.

Turning Pain into Purpose

Image
Horatio Spafford was a man of remarkable success and deep faith. A prosperous lawyer and businessman in Chicago, he was known not only for his professional achievements but also for his devotion to Christ. Yet his life became a portrait of suffering. In 1871, the Great Chicago Fire swept through the city, destroying much of his property and leaving him financially devastated. Around the same time, his young son died of scarlet fever. Two years later, tragedy struck again: while his wife and four daughters sailed to Europe, their ship collided with another vessel and sank. His wife survived, but all four daughters drowned. When Spafford later crossed the Atlantic to reunite with his grieving wife, the captain of his ship pointed out the place where his daughters had perished. Standing at that very spot, overwhelmed by grief yet upheld by faith, Spafford penned words that would echo across centuries:   “When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows ro...

Lord, I Thank You

Image
Lord, I thank You not because my path is clear, But because Your love surrounds me, steady and near. When shadows fall and hope seems gone, Your steadfast mercy carries me on.   I thank You not for ease or gain, But for Your faithfulness through joy and pain. Each promise spoken, each word You give, Becomes the reason I still live.   I thank You not for answers known, But for Your sovereignty upon the throne. Though storms may rage and kingdoms fall, You reign eternal, Lord of all.   I thank You not for fleeting light, But for Your presence through the night. Your love unchanging, Your hand secure, In every trial, Your grace endures.   So let my heart in gratitude rise, Beyond the limits of earthly eyes. Anchored in You, my soul will sing— Thanks to my Savior, my Lord, my King.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

Image
“God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.” – Acts 19:11–12 The power of the Holy Spirit is one of the deepest realities of the Christian life. It is not a distant concept or abstract theology—it is the living presence of God at work in the world and within us.  The Spirit does not merely dwell among us; He transforms us, renewing our minds and reshaping our hearts.  His presence is not static but dynamic—penetrating the deepest places of our being to renew our minds, reshape our desires, and soften our hearts.  Where confusion once clouded our thoughts, the Spirit brings clarity. Where hardness or bitterness once ruled, He cultivates compassion, forgiveness, and love. The Spirit’s work is more than comfort—it is transformation. He dismantles old patterns of sin and self-centeredness, replacing them with new ways of thi...

The Person of the Holy Spirit

Image
“ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed ?” – Acts 19:2 The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force or mystical energy, but a divine Person. Scripture shows that He thinks, speaks, teaches, and can be grieved (Ephesians 4:30). These are not the traits of an abstract power but of a living Person who desires fellowship with us. Paul’s question in Acts 19:2 reveals a vital truth: Christianity without the Spirit risks becoming mere ritual or doctrine. The Spirit is not optional; He is the living presence of God who makes faith real and transformative. Paul was not asking if the disciples had felt a vague energy—he was asking if they had received the divine Person who guides, comforts, and teaches. His question assumes that the Spirit is Someone believers can know and experience. The disciples in Acts 19 had believed, but they had not yet encountered the fullness of the Spirit. Paul’s concern reminds us that true Christian life is not simply about affirming doctrines b...

Cultivating Courage

Image
Courage isn’t the absence of fear, It’s the step you take when shadows near. It’s trembling hands that still hold fast, A fragile heart that learns to last.   It’s hearing doubt, yet choosing to try, It’s lifting your gaze when tears still dry. Not silence of fear, but strength in its sound, A quiet resolve when trials surround.   Courage is walking though knees may shake, It’s standing tall though the earth may quake. It’s not that fear has gone away, But that you rise and face the day.   Courage is not loud, it softly speaks, In broken hearts, in humble peaks. It bends, it breaks, yet still holds fast, A quiet flame that learns to last.   Courage is watered by tears we shed, By prayers we whisper, by truths we’ve said. It blossoms slowly, day by day, A quiet flame that lights the way.   So let the storms howl, let darkness appear, Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s faith that whispers, steady and clear...

Don’t Believe the Lie

Image
“  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free .” – John 8:32   Every day, we are confronted with lies—lies about who we are, what we’re worth, and what our future holds. These lies often come subtly, whispered into our minds through doubt, fear, or temptation. But Scripture reminds us that the enemy of our souls is “the father of lies” (John 8:44). His strategy has always been deception, from the Garden of Eden to today. In Genesis 3:1–5, the serpent deceived Eve by twisting God’s words: “Did God really say…?” The lie was not just about fruit—it was about doubting God’s goodness and truth. Satan doesn’t just tell lies — lying is his very nature. Every deception, distortion, or falsehood traces back to him. Lies are not harmless; they lead to destruction.   Lies corrode trust, break bonds, and leave wounds that are hard to heal.   God takes lies seriously because they oppose His very nature. He is truth (John 14:6).   Lies may promise comfo...

Stay Convinced

Image
“ Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise .” – Hebrews 10:23 When storms rise and life feels overwhelming, it is natural to measure God’s goodness by what we see around us: the winds of hardship, the waves of uncertainty, and the clouds of unanswered questions.   The winds of hardship may blow fiercely against the soul, shaking our confidence and threatening to uproot our peace.  The waves of uncertainty may rise high, tossing us back and forth until we feel disoriented and unsteady and the clouds of unanswered questions may gather thick and heavy, casting shadows that make it difficult to see God’s hand at work. In moments like these, doubt whispers that perhaps He is distant, silent, or absent altogether. Hebrews 10:23 calls us to remain steadfast, rooted, and unwavering because life will inevitably bring trials, unanswered questions, and voices that challenge what we believe. These moments are not desig...

The Sure Foundation

Image
Upon the rock no storm can shake,   A steadfast ground, no fear can break.   Through winds that howl and seas that roar,   The anchor holds, secure once more.     No shifting sand, no fleeting ground,   But endless grace where peace is found.   His cross has borne our deepest pain,   His risen life our sure domain.     When shadows fall and doubts arise,   This bedrock lifts our weary eyes.   Hope stands unbowed, faith’s walls remain,   A fortress built through joy and pain.     Through trials fierce, through nights of fear,   His steadfast love remains so near.   A fortress strong, a guiding light,   Foundation firm through darkest night.     So let the tempests rage and roll,   They cannot move the anchored soul.   For hearts find peace, and lives salvation,   Resting on the Sure Foundation.   Christ, the Rock on whom...

Trusting God's Timing

Image
The seed lies quiet beneath the ground,   No blossoms yet, no life profound.   But hidden deep, unseen by sight,   God tends the roots with gentle light.   We wait, we wonder, we strain to see,   Why doors stay closed, why prayers still be.   Yet every pause, each silent year,   Is shaping blessings drawing near.   The path may twist, the night grow long,   Yet faith becomes my steady song.   For though I cannot see the way,   His light will guide both night and day.   For time is His, not ours to hold,   A story written, wise and bold.   The waiting teaches hearts to grow,   To trust the One who loves us so.   In the silence, He speaks,   A whisper softer than the storm.   In the stillness, He strengthens,   A quiet power, steady and warm.   I will rest, though time feels long,  ...

Praying with Gratitude

Image
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6 Prayer is more than asking; it is also thanking. In the above scripture, Paul reminds believers to bring every concern before God, but to do so with a spirit of gratitude.  Thanksgiving transforms prayer from a list of anxieties into an act of trust. It acknowledges God’s past faithfulness and anticipates His continued goodness. Jesus illustrates this in Matthew 7:11: “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” If even flawed human parents know how to care for their children, how much greater is the generosity of our perfect and loving Father? Praying thankfully teaches us to approach God not with desperation alone, but with confidence that He is already at work. We can therefore approach prayer with confidence, knowing ...

The Joy Of Adversity

Image
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” — Habakkuk 3:17–18 Adversity is often viewed as something to flee—a shadow that robs us of joy and peace. Yet today we turn to a different perspective: 'the Joy of Adversity'. Though the phrase may sound contradictory, adversity is often one of life’s greatest teachers.  Within every struggle lies a hidden gift—the chance to grow, to uncover resilience, and to discover strength we never knew we possessed. What seems like hardship can become the very soil in which courage, faith, and endurance take root. When we talk about the joy of adversity we refer to that joy that arises because of hardship itself. Storms are not meant to break us; they are meant to shape us. They strip away illusions of control and f...
